A Mansfield man is in the Richland County jail on a $1 million dollar bond on a charge of murder and felonious assault.
RichlandSource.com reports, 21 year old Austin Wheatcraft is scheduled to appear in court Thursday at 1 pm for a pre-trial.
Wheatcraft is accused of shooting a man at an Ashland Road home on June 17th. According to Wheatcraft,he found a 19 year old male at his girl friend's residence, who then started to assault him. Wheatcraft said he shot the male in self-defense and panicked. The man died at the next day after being taken to the hospital.
