An 80 year old man from Lucas died in a fire on Hanley road.
The fire department said they took the call of a person possibly trapped and reported fire in the garage and heavy smoke when they arrived Wednesday afternoon. The man’s wife was able to escape.
Monroe Twp. Lucas Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 1800 block of East Hanley Road. Heavy smoke was reported by the homeowner prior to fire department arrival. First arriving engine was at 1312 and reported an active fire located in the garage along with heavy smoke and possible entrapment of a person. We were assisted by Washington Twp, Madison Twp and Mifflin Twp Fire departments. Fire department personnel on scene gained control of the fire at 1352. Cause of fire is undetermined at this time and the State Fire Marshall’s office is handling the investigating.
