The U.S. Air Force is planning to reduce the number of older C-130H models and go with a new model.
RichlandSource.com reports, Mansfield’s 179th Airlift Wing is home to 8 of the older C-130H models.
General Rich Green, chairman of Mansfield’s Military Affairs Council, says the Air Force changes are through the National Defense Authorization Act to add the new C-130J model to some National Guard Units, but the 179th right now is not on that list.
