Current Mansfield City Council President Cliff Mears has been chosen as the next Richland County Commissioner.
Mears was chosen to replace Marilyn John, who was elected as State Representative last fall. Mears was chosen Wednesday from a group of 10 people who applied and he received 73% of the vote, according to RichlandSource.com.
Mears resigned from Council Thursday morning and was then later officially sworn-in as County Commissioner. A replacement will be needed for his spot on city council.
