The Shelby City Health Department is reporting COVID-19 activity over the past 48 hours with 63 new cases and 11 recovered/resolved cases. It should be noted that 42 of these recent cases are situated in a congregate care facility. The Department has documented a total of 309 individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 since the outbreak began in March. Of that cumulative number, 216 individuals have attained recovered/resolved status as of this report. The Department is currently monitoring 90 active cases - with 48 individuals self-isolating in home quarantine and 42 individuals under facility care. Currently there are 0 individuals within the Shelby jurisdiction hospitalized. The Department is saddened to document 2 more COVID-19 deaths within the City of Shelby – bringing the death total to 3. These 2 individuals were not living in a congregate care facility.
Richland County is now under a Level 4 Purple status and citizens are strongly urged to stay at home when possible and to follow all COVID-19 protocols and Health Department guidelines, including: frequent hand washing , careful sanitization, physical/social distancing (whether inside or outside of the home), and the consistent wearing of face coverings.
