The Mansfield Board of Control approved for the Mansfield Police department to get a grant that would allow them to use technology that could reduce gun violence. According to RichlandSource.com, technology that is being used in around 100 cities across the US and 4 in Ohio, called ShotSpotter, can help catch a shooter, find evidence and locate witnesses.
The technology puts sensors on light poles and buildings, which allows police to get reports of shots fired in seconds, instead of 7 to 8 minutes. The grant of $47,000 would allow for a 1 year test of the technology,
