Loudonville man killed in crash Monday

Mansfield - Richland County - The Ohio State Highway Patrol Mansfield Post is investigating a two-car head on crash that occurred on October 26, 2020, at approximately 1:50 PM. The crash occurred on State Route 39 near State Route 603 in Monroe Township.

The crash occurred when a 2018 gray Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Aaron Carlson of Loudonville was traveling westbound on SR 39. Carlson traveled left of the centerline and struck an eastbound silver 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by a 17 year old from Lucas.

Both drivers were extricated by Monroe Township Fire and EMS and then transported to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital for treatment. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, Mr. Carlson succumbed to his injuries. The 17 year old was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The following agencies assisted on scene; Monroe Township Fire and EMS, Shelly Smith Towing and Valley Towing. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under further investigation at this time.
