The City of Shelby has a new police officer.
24 year old Joseph Artrip, who is a native of Perrysville and a graduate of Heidelberg and the NC State College Police Academy, was sworn in this week.
Artrip had been working as a Corrections officer with the Ashland County Sheriff’s Department.
Shelby now has 17 officers and 4 dispatchers on the police force.
