The Richland County Commissioners gave approval to a request from the Prosecutor's Office to ask for outside counsel regarding a voting residency challenge against Mansfield's Law Director.
RichlandSource.com reports that a challenge was filed claiming that Law Director John Spon lives at a residence in Lexington, but is registered to vote from an address in Mansfield. Spon has denied the allegation, saying he has lived at his current Mansfield address since 2010, which was two years prior to being elected as law director.
