The Ashland Police Department and community is mourning the loss of one of its officers.
The Ashland Police department said, " It is with heavy hearts that we endure the loss of Lt. Garry Alting, who passed away."
Lt. Alting, a 25 year veteran of the police force, was known for his infectious smile, great sense of humor and love of police work.
A moment of silence was held on Wednesday afternoon at the Police department to honor Garry Alting.
