The Ashland Fire Department recently promoted Tyler Smith to the rank of "EMS Captain".
RichlandSource.com reports, the move allows the department to have 7 captains and allows time to prepare someone to lead the new fire station, which is set to see construction start this fall.
Ashland Fire Chief Rick Anderson said, Smith is a good, solid paramedic and will do well in the role.
Ashland mayor Matt Miller and Anderson took part in the ceremony to promote Smith to his new position.
