The Richland County Commissioners recently held a mid-year budget hearing to look ahead at projected numbers for next year, which show expenditures exceeding revenue by roughly $5 million dollars, according to Richland Source.com.
Commissioner Marilyn John said at this point, it's not alarming, it's typical. John went on to say the commissioners have cautioned elected officials and department heads, now is not the time to plan additional staffing or salary increases in 2021.
Anything like that, would need to be in the 2nd half of 2021, so the commissioners can get a better grasp on what they budget will look like.
