On April 21st , 2020 the Mansfield Division of Police took a sexual assault report involving a 17 year old juvenile.
During the course of the investigation which included Richland County Children Services, a search warrant was executed with the assistance of patrol officers on a residence in the 1200 block of Preakness Drive, yesterday afternoon. During the search warrant, certain evidence was collected and the suspect in the assault, Wayne E. Craft (W/M, 54 years old) voluntarily agreed to be interviewed by Major Crimes Detectives.
The subsequent interview of Mr. Craft resulted in him making statements to Detective Jered Kingsborough and Detective David Scheurer that led to Mr. Craft’s arrest in connection with the sexual assault.
A felony warrant for “Rape” was completed and served on Mr. Craft and he was incarcerated at the Richland County Jail. We are asking that anyone who may have additional information concerning this crime, to please contact Det. Kingsborough at (419) 755-9729.
