“Cram the Cruiser” Huge Success
Richland County – On December 23, 2019, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Shelby Police Department, Ontario Police Department, Mansfield Police Department and the Richland County Sheriff’s Office participated in “Cram the Cruiser”.
“Cram the Cruiser” is designed to post local law enforcement officers with their marked patrol vehicle at local grocery stores allowing citizens to donate non-perishable food items that will fill the patrol vehicle. Everything that is collected, is then donated to the local food pantries, charities, and shelters.
The end of the year is difficult enough for our food pantries, charities, and shelters with the holidays. We wanted to give back and ensure their shelves would be stocked in order to continue providing the best services.
Between the five agencies that participated, a total of 8,100 pounds of non-perishable food items were collected.
We would like to express our thanks to the citizens of Richland County for their support in this event. If it wasn’t for our citizens, this event would not be possible.
We would also like to express our thanks to the following grocery stores for their participation in the event; Ontario and Mansfield Walmart, Save A lot, Kroger on Lexington Ave., and Cornell’s in Shelby.
We hope to continue this event each year, and look forward to what we can do together for our communities.
