State Representative Mark Romanchuk (R-Ontario), elected to four terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, announced his candidacy for election to the 22nd District of the Ohio Senate today. He is running to fill the seat being vacated by term-limited State Senator Larry Obhof (R-Medina).
“I am honored that the people of Richland County have given me the opportunity to serve them for the past seven years in the Ohio House,” Romanchuk said. “I look forward to continuing to fight for the conservative principles of lower taxes, less spending, and more jobs for the people of Richland, Ashland, Holmes, and Medina counties as a member of the Ohio Senate.”
Representative Romanchuk has over 30 years of experience in small business, systems engineering and management, and community development. He is the owner and president of PR Machine Works, Inc., a contract manufacturer providing precision machining, fabrication, and assembly services in the city of Ontario. Prior to his work with PR Machine Works, he worked at Hughes Aircraft Company as an engineer and in a diplomatic capacity to the former Soviet Union in support of the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty. He was also based in Japan as a team leader and technical advisor to the U.S. Navy in support of the F/A – 18 aircraft.
He has been heavily involved in the community, particularly in local efforts to create jobs and in workforce development. He is a member of the National Tooling and Machining Association and served as Economic Region 6’s team leader for the state’s “Ohio Skills Bank,” which strives to develop regional manufacturing career pathways. Representative Romanchuk also serves on the Ashbrook Center Board at Ashland University.
Romanchuk is the co-founder and past president of the Regional Manufacturing Coalition and is the past chairman of the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He currently serves on the Leadership Board of the Richland Community Development Group, the North Central State College Foundation and the Mansfield Sertoma Club.
In his past elections for the Ohio House, he was endorsed by the National Federation of Independent Business which awarded him the Guardian of Small Business Award. He was also endorsed by the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association. He maintains a 100% pro-life voting record, has been endorsed in each election by Ohio Right to Life, and is a co-sponsor of Ohio’s “Heartbeat Bill” which was recently signed into law by Governor Mike DeWine. Romanchuk was also named a “Friend of Agriculture” by the Ohio Farm Bureau, their highest distinction.
