This morning at approximately 5AM deputies were called to the area of Harlan and Peterson roads. It was reported that a vehicle crashed and was possibly a stolen vehicle. Deputies had previously been called to this area on 7/10/19 for a suspicious vehicle.
The registration of the vehicle that crashed this morning returned to an address on Harlan road. Deputies had information that the residents at the address on Harlan road were on vacation. When the deputy arrived at the scene, a vehicle was parked in the middle of the roadway near the crashed vehicle. As the deputy approached the vehicle, it accelerated and the deputy followed. The deputy stopped the vehicle on Crimson Road. There were four occupants in the vehicle.
Other deputies responded to the car stop and the residence on Harlan road where the residents were on vacation. It was discovered that the residence had been broken into and items removed from the house including a safe that was found outside. The vehicle found in front of the residence in the ditch belonged to the owners of the house that was burglarized.
Deputies and Major Crime Detectives, through investigation, were able to locate evidence inside the vehicle stopped by the deputy on Crimson Road to the burglary on Harlan road. Deputies are still collecting evidence and continue with the investigation.
All four occupants of the vehicle stop were arrested and charged with burglary. Two adults were transported to the Richland County Jail. The adults were identified as Gino Antonio Brooks DOB: 10/07/1980 Age 38 from Columbus, OH and Shamir Hillard Brown DOB: 11/26/1999 Age 19 from Mansfield, OH.
The other two occupants were juveniles. They were arrested and taken to the Richland County Attention Center.
