On July 2, 2019 at 1614 hours the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one vehicle motorcycle accident in the eastbound lane of U.S 30 just east of S.R 602.
Kevin Wakely, age 61, Morrow County Ohio was operating a 2013 Harley Davidson Motorcycle eastbound on US 30. For reasons unknown at this time, Wakely went into the median and the motorcycle struck a drain. Wakely and passenger, Theresa Wakely, age 64, same address, were ejected. Neither was wearing a motorcycle helmet. Kevin Wakely was pronounced deceased at the scene by Crawford County Coroner Christopher Johnson. Theresa Wakely was transported to Mansfield Med Central by Portsmouth EMS to be treated for her injuries where she remains in critical condition.
This crash remains under investigation and no other information is available at this time
Jefferson Twp. Fire Department, Portsmouth EMS and the Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office with the crash.
