After a second day of searching, crews have been unsuccessful in locating a missing swimmer on the Kokosing River near Honey Run Park. On Tuesday afternoon June 11th, rescue personnel and deputies responded to a report of a 15 year old boy that disappeared while wading and swimming on the river with three other juveniles and an adult. Boat crews and divers from multiple agencies searched for approximately five hours before stopping for the night.
The searched resumed on Wednesday morning with K9 units and additional agencies assisting with search efforts. After eleven hours of searching on the second day, crews have again been forced to suspend operations due to darkness.
The situation will be evaluated on Thursday morning as rain is forecasted, and could impact the safety of search crews. Boats, divers and K9 units from Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District, Fredericktown Fire Department, Walhonding Valley Fire District, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Dellroy Community Fire Department, and Christian Aid Ministries Search and Rescue, have contributed in the search efforts.
