Fred Boll grew up in the small southern Ohio town of Wheelersburg. The son of Mary and Herman Boll, Fred grew up in a very busy household of 11 children where he was ninth of the 11. After graduating high school in 1982, he attended Ashland University on a football scholarship completing his bachelors of Science degree in recreation in 1987.

After college, Fred began working for a variety of outdoor education facilities in both Ohio and Michigan, specializing in adventure education. This consisted of taking groups of children of 21 on backpacking, canoeing, and horse packing trips to the Rocky Mountains and throughout the state of Michigan. In 1992, Fred Boll took the position of operational manager at Mohican State Park resort and Conference Center. Fred worked here for seven years filling various roles as needed, including two extended periods of executive chef duties.

In 1999, Fred took over as the operational manager for the Nuhop Center for Experiential Education where he oversaw the development of an outer education program. This was consisted of building a ropes course and undertaking large renovations to the existing structures of Camp. In 2006, Fred took a position with Mansfield city schools as its outer education teacher and assisted in the development of the Spring Mill facility. In 2014, Fred became the Executive Director at the Little Buckeye Children’s Museum.

Fred has been married to Ellen Boll, his wonderful wife since 1997. They have two delightful children, Cecilia Boll who is a student at Rio Grande University and Eric Boll who is a student at Ohio University.
