Mansfield native and St. Peter’s graduate, 36 year old Matt Failor, has reached the finish line of the Iditarod trail dog sled race up in Alaska.
Failor, competing in his 8th Iditarod, came in 18th place and took 11 days to complete the 1,000 mile race across the Alaskan wilderness. The first Iditarod took place back in 1973 and the fastest time to complete the race is just under 9 days.
Failor, whose team name is 17th Dog, will speak in Ashland next month at a OSU Alumni Club of Ashland County event ,April 11th, at the First United Methodist Church.
