Demolition got underway on Monday morning on the former Mansfield YMCA building at 455 Park Avenue West. Page Excavating is handling the work and says the project will take about a month to complete, which will see part of Bartley Avenue have to close. Mansfield mayor Tim Theaker told RichlandSource.com, he used to come there as a kid and it’s an end of an era. Theaker went on to say it was an eyesore and needed to come down, after being condemned about 3 years ago.
Back in August, the city moved $500,000 from the PRIDE Tax fund into the demolition fund, to help with the cost of tearing down the YMCA.
