My Choice Activity Center donated 40 new pillowcases to Richland County Children Services on Wednesday. My Choice Activity Coordinator Kim Corwin and My Choice leadership team members Jake Meredith, Evonna Kinkade, Pam Eichelberge and Anne Knapp delivered the pillowcases. “The team created a project called “Kindness Rocks!” The group plans projects of kindness for individuals at My Choice to give back to the community,” Corwin said.
“We received a donation of 30 hand-sewn pillowcases from a grandmother who wishes to remain anonymous to Kindness Rocks who wanted to see the pillowcases put to good use,” Corwin said.
Kindness Rocks saw news articles on how the Richland Correctional Institution Red Cross Inmate chapter donated pillows to Richland County Children Services and decided to do the same. The group held a "Puppy Chow" fundraiser to raise money for an additional ten pillowcases, raising the total to 40 that were donated.
“The pillowcases will be used during the summer when kids from Children Services go camping,” said Tim Harless, Director of Community Outreach and Programming.
"I would just like to say thank you so much for the pillowcases" Rhonda Marsh, Kinship Navigator of Richland County Children Services, said to representatives from Kindness Rocks during the presentation. "This is such a blessing for you guys to give the youths the pillowcases, and we really appreciate your donation."
