Vermillion Township – Troopers are investigating a serious injury crash involving three vehicles that occurred Tuesday morning at approximately 7:35 A.M. The incident occurred on US 30 at the intersection of SR 511.
A 2006 Mercedes Benz operated by Renee S. Stimpert of Ashland was eastbound on US 30. A 2013 Ford F-150 operated by Timothy N. Cox of Ashland was southbound on SR 511. The Ford F-150 failed to yield at a stop sign and attempted to cross over US 30 when it was struck by the Mercedes Benz. After the collision, the Mercedes Benz then struck a 2005 Chevrolet 1500 operated by Tyler H. Burnett of Perrysville who was stopped at a stop sign facing northbound on SR 511. The Ford F-150 went off the roadway at the southeast corner of the intersection and struck a ditch before coming to a final rest.
Mr Cox was flown by Metro Life-flight to Akron City Hospital with serious injuries. Ms Stimpert was transported by Ambulance to Ashland Samaritan Hospital with minor injuries. Mr Burnett was not injured.
The following agencies assisted at the crash scene: Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Hayesville Fire & EMS, and The Ohio Department of Transportation.
Ms Stimpert and Mr Burnett were wearing their safety belts. Mr Cox was not wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash. The crash is still under investigation.
