Shelby Officials Leaning Toward Pre K -8 Building Only on Ballot

Shelby school officials are leaning toward putting a bond issue on the fall ballot for a new Pre K through 8th grade building only, after voters twice turned down the issue, which included a new football stadium.  58% of Shelby voters said no last fall and 62% turned it down earlier this month. Superintendent Tim Tarvin says this will be their last chance to pass the bond issue with $16 million coming from the State. The board will have to make its decision by August for the issue to appear on the November ballot.   Superintendent Tim Tarvin says Skiles Field, Shelby's football stadium, is slow falling apart and needs replaced. Tarvin says Skiles Field has only 4-8 years of safe use left.
