The Cleveland Indians today announced the following transactions relative to the Major League roster:
Selected the contract of RHP NEIL RAMIREZ (#58) from Triple-A Columbus.
Placed OF BRADLEY ZIMMER (left rib contusion) on the 10-day Disabled List, retroactive to May 12.
Transferred LHP RYAN MERRITT from the 10-day to the 60-day Disabled List.
Ramirez, 28, has spent the 2018 season with Columbus, posting a mark of 2-0 with 3 saves and a 2.55 ERA in 13 relief appearances (17.2IP, 13H, 5R/ER, 3BB, 31SO, .200 avg). He is averaging 15.8 strikeouts per 9.0IP and has fanned 11 of his last 18 batters faced over his last 4 scoreless contests (5.1IP). Right-handed batters have hit .163 (7-for-43, 45BF) off him with 21 strikeouts so far this year.
The Kempsville, VA native made 9 exhibition relief outings after signing a Minor League contract with a non-roster invitation to Major League Spring Training camp last November 30.
