MONDAY, MARCH 19TH

LOWE-VOLK PARK, 2401 ST. RT. 598 IN GALION WILL HOST THE PROGRAM "NATIVE PLANTS FOR BIRDS" AT 6PM. AUDUBON'S MICHAEL GOLDMAN WILL HELP YOU LEARN WHAT WILL BEST GROW IN Y OUR GARDENS AND WHAT KIND OF BIRDS YOU CAN ATTRACT TO YOUR HOME.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 21ST

LOWE-VOLK PARK WILL HOST AN HOUR OF NATURE EXPLORATION FOR PRE-SCHOOLERS AND THEIR PARENTS CALLED “WILD WEDNESDAYS” AT 10AM AND 2PM.  THE PROGRAMS VARY AND MAY INCLUDE A STORY, SHORT HIKE, CRAFT OR VISIT FROM AN ANIMAL. 

THURSDAY, MARCH 22ND

JOIN CRAWFORD PARK DISTRICT NATURALIST LISA BOGARD, AT LOWE-VOLK PARK, TO LEARN ABOUT THE 5 LIZARDS THAT CALL OHIO HOME.  WE WILL ALSO TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT THE LIZARDS THAT LIVE IN THE NATURE CENTER.  “LEAPING LIZARDS” WILL START AT 5PM.

SATURDAY, MARCH 24TH

JOHN CRAWFORD PARK DISTRICT VOLUNTEER DAN EVERLY AT LOWE-VOLK PARK FOR TWO DIFFERENT PLANETARIUM PROGRAMS.  PLANETARIUM I WILL TAKE PLACE AT 10AM AND IS FAMILY FRIENDLY.  YOU WILL EXPLORE THE MILKY WAY GALAXY AND HOW CONSTELLATIONS RELATE TO GREEK, ROMAN AND NATIVE AMERICAN MYTHOLOGY.

PLANETARIUM II IS A PROGRAM DESIGNED FOR ADULTS AND WILL BE MORE DETAILED THAN THE EARLIER PROGRAM.  THIS WILL TAKE PLACE AT 7PM.

CRAWFORD PARK DISTRICT NATURALIST JOSH DYER WILL HOST A “VERNAL POOL EXPLORATION” AT 1PM AT THE HECKERT NATURE PRESERVE, 1601 ST. RT. 19.  YOU WILL INVESTIGATE THE VERNAL POOLS LOOKING FOR BUGS, FROGS AND SALAMANDERS.  MAKE SURE TO WEAR YOUR RUBBER BOOTS!

JOIN THE CRAWFORD PARK DISTRICT VOLUNTEERS AND MEMBERS OF THE LOWE-VOLK ASTRONOMY CLUB AS THEY SHARE THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND TELESCOPE SKILLS WITH THE PROGRAM “VIEWING THE NIGHT SKY.”  THERE WILL BE MANY TARGETS FOR THE SPRING.  BRING YOUR OWN TELESCOPE OR ALLOW THE VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST YOU WITH THOSE PROVIDED.  THIS WILL TAKE PLACE AT LOWE-VOLK PARK STARTING AT 8PM.

SUNDAY, MARCH 25TH

HEY KIDS!  COME TO LOWE-VOLK PARK FOR THE “HI-TECH EASTER EGG HUNT” FROM 1:00 – 3:00PM!  BRING Y OUR GPS OR BORROW ONE FROM THE PARK TO FIND THE EGGS HIDDEN IN THE PARK AND ANSWER NATURE BASED QUESTIONS IN THE EGGS.  KIDS FINDING EGGS AND ANSWERING QUESTIONS WILL RECEIVE A SMALL PRIZE.
