Retailer plans to open a new store and remodel 18 others

WESTERVILLE, OH (February 14, 2023) – Kroger’s Columbus Division announced a commitment to invest approximately $68 million in central and northwest Ohio in 2024. The investment will be highlighted by the opening of the new Jerome Village Kroger Marketplace in Union County, and remodeling of 18 stores across the Division.

“This investment is yet another demonstration of the commitment Kroger makes each and every day to the customers and communities in which we serve,” said Mark Bruce, Corporate Affairs Manager for Kroger’s Columbus Division. “It also reconfirms our collaboration with our Kroger associates and the Ohio companies and agricultural producers who supply our stores with high quality products.”

The Jerome Village Kroger marketplace will be the first net new store in the Kroger Columbus Division since 2009 and represents a $38 million investment in Central Ohio. The 123,000 square-foot marketplace store will feature many of the features customers recognize including enhanced Produce, Deli, Bakery, Meat, Seafood, and Sushi sections; a Murray’s cheese shop; a fuel center and so much more.

Today, the Kroger Columbus Division employs nearly 18,000 associates across the Division’s stores in Ohio and West Virginia, securing access to good-paying union jobs and providing opportunities for career growth. In addition to world-class training and professional development, Kroger offers great benefits for part-time and full-time associates interested in furthering their education. Associates can take advantage of up to $21,000 in reimbursement during their careers with Kroger for an educational pursuit of their choosing, from a GED to a Ph.D.

The announcement is one more example of the investment the Kroger Columbus Division is making in our communities. In 2024, Kroger will invest approximately $30 million to renovate stores in Grove City, Toledo, Columbus, Mansfield, Pickerington, Jackson, Hebron, Port Clinton, Delaware, Fostoria, Sandusky, Groveport, Worthington, Heath, and Oregon.
