Boys Basketball: Lex Beats New Philadelphia, Clinches Share Of OCC Title

2/2/24 - Lexington (18-1, 12-0) locked up a share of the Ohio Cardinal Conference on Friday, as the Minutemen beat New Philadelphia, 57-47, at home.

Lexington had the lead for most of the evening, but the final score was the largest margin of the ball game. The Minutemen had an 8 point lead several times, but the Quakers would never go away, and actually took a 1 point lead going into the 4th quarter.

Lex outscored New Philadelphia, 21-10, in the final quarter to clinch a share of their 27th overall league crown in school history.

Brayden Fogle was very key down the stretch, as he scored 11 of his 15 points in the 2nd half, while also grabbing 8 rebounds. Joe Caudill of Lex, also had 15 points and 8 rebounds - plus 4 assists and 2 steals. Elijah Hudson had 10 and Seven Allen chipped in 8 points and shared the ball well on some great passes, ending with a team high 5 assists.

New Philadelphia was led in scoring by Colton Slaughter with 19 points (5/9 from three point range) and Owen Miller added 14 point for the Quakers (10-7, 7-5).

Lexington can win the league title outright on Friday with a win at West Holmes.
