Retired Mansfield Police Officer Arrested For Reported Sex Offense

On Tuesday May 21st, 2019 the Mansfield Division of Police handled a call regarding a sex offense that had occurred earlier that day at Liberty Park involving an adult male suspect and an adult female victim.

During the course of the investigation, it was learned that the suspect was Barry M. Lewis (W/M, 77 years old). Mr. Lewis retired from the Mansfield Division of Police on February 21st, 1991. After an investigation into the incident and a case review with the Mansfield Law Directors Office, Mr. Lewis was taken into custody and charged with “Public Indecency” (M-2) and “Unlawful Restraint” (M-3). Mr. Lewis was incarcerated at the Richland County Jail on those charges.
