Richland Public Health Close to Ownership of Lex Avenue Building

The Richland Public Health Board now has control and is working toward ownership of its building on Lexington Avenue. The health department is part of the Sterkel Trust.  The Trust owns the land and the building, but the county commissioners hold the rights to the building.  Richland County Commissioner Tony Vero says the County was responsible for maintenance and upkeep of the building, while the health department leased it from the County. Vero says the commissioners felt this was the right way to go and the health department will be in control of their own building, not the county.
